What is the rule about celebrating the Prophet's birthday

Prophet Muhammad's Birthday –
Are the Eid Milad celebrations of Islam and Sunnah?

There should be no doubt that Allah (The Most High) has perfected the religion for the Ummah and completed His favor upon them.

And Allah did not take His Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) from this world until he had conveyed the message, and Allah had completed the Sharee'ah through him. The Messenger did not leave a matter that would bring a person closer to Allah except that he guided people to it, and he did not leave a matter that would bring a person far from Allah except that he warned about it.

Ahmad and Ibn Khuzaymah narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
“By Him in whose hand is my soul, I have left nothing that draws you nearer to Paradise and distances you from the Fire, except that I have commanded you with it. And I have left nothing that draws you closer to the Fire and distances you from Paradise, except that I have forbidden you. “

Therefore, the person who is guided is the one who submits and yields to what the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) came with. And it is not permissible for anyone to introduce into the Sharee'ah and the Religion anything that Allah has not legislated.

Bukhāri (2697) and Muslim (1718) reported that A'ishah said that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ
“Whoever introduces something into this cause of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not out there, will have it rejected.”

And Muslim reported from her in his Saheeh (1718) that Allah's Messenger said:
مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيفَهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ
“Whoever does an act that is not of this religion of ours, it will be rejected.”
The term (فَهُوَ رَدٌّ) means that this act of worship is completely rejected by Allah and therefore forbidden. That is because Allah has not given permission to anyone to increase and add to His Religion.

On the contrary, Allah (The Most High) has condemned it in His Book and prohibited it, as in His saying:
See more ذَن بِهِ اللَّهُ ۚ – 42:21
“Or have they set up rivals with Allah, who have made for them laws of religion which Allah has not permitted.” (Ash-Shurah: 21).

Muslim reports in his Saheeh (867) from Jābir (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet would say in the Friday Khutbah:
More information
“The best of speech is the Book of Allah, and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of all things are those that have just been introduced into the religion, and every innovation (bid'ah) is deception. “

The traditions of Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and his Companions forbidding innovations in religion are too numerous to mention in this brief discussion. However, it is these traditions that form the basis of the answer to the question regarding the birthday of the Prophet

The birthdays were not celebrated by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and he advised the people and taught them according to the Sharee'ah of Allah. He commanded them, encouraged them and guided them to that which would benefit them and please their Lord (the Most High). His companions, during his lifetime and after his death, did not observe the birth date of their Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) for celebration or commemoration – and they were the most informed about humanity after the prophets and the most rightly guided. They were the most steadfast in every good and the most eager to do good deeds. After them came the early Imāmen of guidance and knowledge from the most excellent generations. Yet none of them celebrated the Prophet's birthday.

This ritual was invented by the latecomers, centuries after the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and his companions (رضي الله عنهم). They introduced this celebration without any proof, then the people made taqleed (blind following) of them, and it became widespread until this time of ours. Yet none of them can put into practice any evidence from the Revelation, or from the early generations, or from the four Imāms.

The first people to innovate this celebration of the Prophet's birthday (صلى الله عليه وسلم) were the tribe of Bani 'Ubaid al-Qaddāh, those who called themselves the Fātimids. They were Bātini, Rāfidi, Ismā'eeli Shi'ah as Imām Adh-Dhahabi mentioned in As-Siyar (15/141). Its origin has no connection with the Sunnah or with Islam. They also celebrated the birthdays of 'Ali ibn Abi Tālib, Fātimah, Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) – they even celebrated Christmas. They appeared in the era of Banul-'Abbās and ruled Egypt from 360 AH. They always believed that Allah dwells in His creation, in the concept that the Revelation has esoteric meanings known only to their own scholars and 'saints', which is why they were considered disbelievers by the great scholars of Ahlusunnah. -Sunnah of that time. Before them, there was no celebration of the Mawlid (birthday) of the Messenger of Allah

It is binding on all Muslims to adhere and become accustomed to the way of Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and his Companions (رضي الله عنهم) because it is the straight path and a strong, steadfast Manhaj (methodology) of Islam which protects it from the corruption and distortion of the previous nations. It is recorded in an authentic hadeeth narrated by Ahmad ibn Hanbal in his Musnad (4131) and Ad-Dārimi in his Muqaddimah (202) that Abdullāh ibn Mas'ood said:
لنا رسول اللures صلى الل Mor عل️ ... خطا, ث️ قال: omen سаل اللotter, ث خط خطوطا ع️pen elf يlfه فama ف ف فcc ❖ Sick شيطان elf يو إليizz, ث️ قرأ: وأن omen ذ ill ص put ص El ump ump فات marria وards وا و marria تask السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُم عَن سَبِيلِهِ
“Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) drew a line for us one day. Then he said: 'This is the straight path of Allah.' Then he drew lines to the right of it and to the left of it. Then he said, “These are divergent paths. On each of them there is a devil calling out to it. ' Then he recited the verse: 'And this is My Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not the other paths, for they will separate you from Allah's Straight Path.' (An'ām: 153) “And Allah (The Most High) said:
“And whatever the Messenger gives you, accept it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment. ” (Al-Hashr: 7)

The Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) set an example for his Ummah, and there is no better example than him:
“Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah, you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for the meeting with Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.” (Al-Ahzāb: 21)

And his example does not include the celebration of his birthday. The Prophet forbade innovations: “And whatever he forbids you, abstain and fear Allah” as mentioned in the above verse.

So all this evidence should tell you that these celebrations are innovations – and that it is up to all Muslims to abandon and ignore them and warn your relatives, friends and neighbors about these non-Islamic practices. It is obligatory for the Muslims to understand the religion and give importance to studying the biography of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) - in the sense that there is enough for the Muslims, and the Ummah has these novelties and innovations no need to show their love for Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

Likewise for the night of Al-Isrā and Al-Mi'rāj (the Night Journey and Ascension of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to the heavens). The most correct statement of the people of knowledge is that its day is unknown and all hadeeth mentioning the date are weak, unestablished and unproven. Whoever claims that the night of Isrā and Mi'rāj is in the 27th of Rajab is very mistaken, for there is nothing in the Sharee'ah to support this claim. Even if, for the sake of argument, we accept that the date was known, there is still no evidence that it is a time of celebration. Rather, it is an innovation (bid'ah) as Allah has not given authority or permission to anyone to introduce these celebrations into the religion. And if these celebrations had been permitted and legally established, the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and his Companions (رضي الله عنهم) would have preceded us and encouraged those who came after them with the same celebration. Since it was not done and was not supported except by a few innovators centuries later, it proves that it is an innovation, a deception and an invasion of the pure Islamic faith.

So if your family, father or mother is celebrating this birthday out of tradition, culture or ignorance, talk to them politely and say as Ibrāhīm (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to his father:
يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي قَدْ جَاءنِي مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَ اتَّبِعْي أَهْدِكَ صِرَاطًا سَا
'Oh, my father! Verily! Knowledge has come to me that has not come to you. So follow me. I will guide you to a straight path. ” (Maryam: 43)
